Farleygreene Shortlised for Three PPMA Group Industry Awards

20th August, 2019

This year Farleygreene has been shortlisted in the following three categories: Innovative Processing System, Exporter of the year and Apprentice of the Year. The awards are due to take place at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham on Tuesday 1st October, the first day of the PPMA Show.

INNOVATIVE PROCESSING SYSTEM

This year Farleygreene’s Sievmaster E-400 has been nominated for this category, which aims to award machinery manufacturers who have engineered an innovative processing system.

The E-400 is currently the only modular vibratory sieve that can be used to perform many functions within a small production facility. Its specially designed panwork allows the operator to change the set-up of the sieve from a simple sack-tip check sieve to an accurate multi-screen grading device in minutes, without the need for tools. No other sieve currently on the market offers this level of customisation.

Being able to work on the machine without tools, having a design that allows for close fit between parts, means that cleaning and maintenance downtime is reduced. The use of common components, regardless of which modules are incorporated into the sieve, also allows for certain economies of scale. Helping to bring the overall cost of the E-400 down and enabling certain features to be available at a much lower entry point that would normally be the case.

EXPORTER OF THE YEAR

Throughout the company’s 43-year history, Farleygreene has gradually expanded sales beyond UK shores. Sales of sieves have been strong within the UK since the beginnings of Farleygreene. A strategy to access key EU markets, France, Spain, Italy has been implemented over the past few years to increase sales, bringing on new distributors in these markets one by one.

Distributors are a very important aspect to Farleygreene, and each new agent has been treated as an extension of the company’s sales team. In fact, their distributors for England and Wales (Genesis Process Solutions) will be exhibiting at the PPMA Show this year.

Since 2017, Farleygreene has taken on 6 distributors, attributing most of their growth during this time to export. As the current distributors gain a foothold within their own markets, and continue to increase their market share, further territories are continuing to be realised.

APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR

Farleygreene’s Office Administrator, Laura Baulch joined directly from collage in July 2017 to complete her apprenticeship in Business Administration. She was supporting all departments, most notably with Office Administration and Marketing, understanding how all areas within the business worked. Having finished her apprenticeship in 2018, she is employed on a permanent basis as Office Administrator and is now progressing her way up through the company.

Overall, Laura has become a huge asset to Farleygreene, becoming the glue that keeps many aspects of the company’s internal facing processes in place. She supports each department in a small but key way; keeping each one delivering to a high standard. She will continue to progress on her way up the ladder and given her track record in going from college student, through her apprenticeship, to her current level, it shouldn’t be long until she’s in her desired role.
