Mapledurwell, Hampshire – Farleygreene, manufacturers of sieving and screening equipment, have won the 2019 PPMA Exporter of the Year Award at the prestigious Group Industry Awards event in Birmingham.
The PPMA Awards bring together more than 300 industry professionals from the world of processing and packaging machinery, with the Exporter of the Year award recognising manufacturers who have achieved substantial export sales growth in the last 12 – 18 months.
Farleygreene has been implementing a strategic export growth in line with both natural and Brexit lead reasoning. Over the past 2 years this has grown from less than 5% in 2017, to over 30% of turnover in 2019. Farleygreene operate a distributor based model to access foreign markets which has proved successful over the past 3 years, increasing important export-based revenue.
The sales of sieves have always been strong within the UK for Farleygreene, since their establishment in 1976, with the occasional exporting on an ad-hoc basis if the customer had an international presence. In order to increase sales, a strategy to access key EU markets was created bringing on new distributors in these markets one by one. Due to their small company size, Farleygreene developed a tiered onboarding process so that resource could deal with each new distributor in turn. As the company has grown, so has the resource now available to onboard new distributors. Farleygreene now have 11 distributors worldwide, serving a total of 18 countries. Their distributors are a very important addition to Farleygreene and are seen as an extension to their sales team, supported by country specific marketing material.
Farleygreene will continue to grow using the distributor based strategy, as it’s seen as the most efficient way to grow the brand throughout the EU and beyond. Ultimately Farleygreene’s aim is to become the technical knowledge hub behind the distributor network.
